Grandma Gary's Dishcloth

This dishcloth, given to me by my Aunt Linda, is actually a signature pattern from my great grandmother. It works in a diagonal, and has an openwork edge.

Size

About 9.5″ x 9.5″

Materials

  • 125 yds worsted weight yarn
  • Size 7 needles

Instructions

  • Cast on 4 stitches
  • Row 1: Knit
  • Row 2: Knit in front and back of each stitch. Stitch count = 8
  • Row 3: Knit
  • Row 4: K4, Yarn Over, knit to end of row
  • Rows 5 – 49: Repeat Row 4. Stitch count at end of row 49 = 54
  • Row 50: K4, YO, Knit 2 together; knit to end of row
  • Row 51: Repeat Row 50
  • Row 52: K3, K2 tog; YO, K2 tog; knit to end of row
  • Rows 53-96: Repeat Row 52. Stitch count at end of row 96 = 9
  • Row 97:  K3, K2 tog; K4. Stitch count = 8
  • Row 98: K8
  • Row 99: K2 tog 4 times. Stitch count = 4
  • Bind off
